Why should I watch..?

Witton Albion are one of the few sides to thoroughly outplay title-favourites Warrington Town this term, during a 1-1 draw in Northwich on Boxing Day.

A hotly-contested penalty spared Yellows from defeat at Wincham Park.

The pacesetters lost 2-1 against Lancaster on Saturday, so all eyes will be on how they respond to a setback.

Their opponents have improved after a five-match sequence without a victory, winning the past three.

Numbers game

Despite going down at Lancaster on Saturday, Warrington’s home form is formidable; Yellows have won 15 of 18 league games at Cantilever Park this term, losing once – to Burscough.

They have collected maximum points from the eight matches there since.

Witton’s longest winning streak of the season is four matches, a sequence they put together in January.

Albion can match that run if they can become the first team to beat Warrington in front of their own supporters since October.

Man to keep an eye on

Michael Wilson

Perhaps hasn’t attracted the attention of outsiders like Rob Hopley, who has scored 14 goals in 19 starts since switching to Witton from Colwyn Bay, but Wilson has been one of Carl Macauley’s best signings.

The defender has improved, and is a better player than the one that arrived from Connah’s Quay in November.

That progress will be tested by in-form Ciaran Kilheeney, the section’s leading scorer with 30 goals.
