BRIAN Pritchard has challenged his players to repeat their previous performance when they host Chester in a friendly tomorrow, Saturday.

Witton Albion proved too strong for Telford, another team from non-league football’s top flight, in a 3-1 victory last weekend.

He said: “The starting line-up will be similar, so can they be consistent?

“Which Witton will turn up? That’s the most important thing I’ll be looking for, rather than the result.

“It’s pointless worrying whether Chester are better than Telford and measuring ourselves that way.”

The hosts will be without injured strike pair Alex Titchiner, who has yet to feature this summer while he recovers from a hamstring injury, and Mike Koral (broken toe).

Newcomer Chris Sanna, absent against the Bucks, returns in goal though.

Pritchard told the Guardian earlier this week that he is happy with the group he has following the signing of front man Neil Harvey, though he insists there is still time for those on trial to impress.

“I’ll need to make a decision soon,” he said.

“But I’ll see first how the next couple of games go. The truth is we’ve got little room for manoeuvre in terms of the budget.

“However nobody’s place is nailed down, and if I feel there is somebody who can improve on what we have – even the new arrivals – I’m willing to change.”

Visitors Chester, reprieved from relegation to the Football Conference’s Northern division following the demise of Hereford, are managed by former Northwich Victoria boss Steve Burr.

The Vics link is a strong one, with Matty Brown, Kieran Charnock, John Disney, Peter Winn and Wayne Riley signing this summer.

Jon McCarthy is Burr’s number two as well.

Meanwhile Michael Powell, Anthony Sheehan and Iain Howard face their former club in Witton’s colours.

Adults pay £6 to watch, concessions £4.

Kick off is 3pm.
