Witton Albion 3 Buxton 0

WITTON stormed to victory as they blew Buxton away.

Albion were clinical in atrocious conditions as they dished out a thrashing to one of the division's form teams.

The Bucks were unrecognisable.

And Wincham Park's biggest crowd of the campaign, 557, were treated to a trio of fine goals in the pouring rain.

Former Witton winger James Turley swerved two cartoon kicks over the cross bar as the wind dominated the opening stages to make passing all but impossible.

But the hosts struck first with their first meaningful raid.

Liam Brownhill scampered forward before skidding a 20-yard drive under Richard O'Donnell to put his side in front.

Turley conjured an opening for Paul Walkier soon afterwards to send the striker clear but his shot was smothered by Jon Kennedy near the touchline.

The pair repeated the trick within three minutes but the outcome was the same, this time the Witton custodian forcing Walker too wide to hit a shot.

Witton should have doubled their tally on 27 minutes.

Brownhill swapped passes with Peers, back from his three-match ban, who slid a cute assist through to Adam Warlow only for the forward to screw his shot wide of the far post.

They did extend their advantage six minutes later.

This time Brownhill again fed Peers and his incisive pass teed up Rod Thornley to finish first time with a stylish shot.

Neil Ross blazed a free kick wide from the edge of the box when he should have hit the target but Buxton failed to make any impact as an attacking force after that.

The outcome was put beyond all doubt on 56 minutes.

Rob Lloyd finished a move he started after sidestepping Terry Bowker's lunge before curving an unstoppable shot past O'Donnell from the edge of the box.

At the other end Turley and Ross combined to tee up Anton Foster only for Tony Barras to block brilliantly as the midfielder shaped to shoot.

Warlow missed a sitter after slithering away from his marker with a cheeky turn before sub Ian Kearney and Thornley were denied by O'Donnell.
