WITTON were denied an upset by a dreadful decision at 10-man Hucknall.
Albion top scorer Adam Warlow steered home Mark Peers' centre on the final whistle only for Hull referee Matt McGrath to rule he had fouled his marker.
Instead they have a another chance to humble Hucknall on Tuesday.
Mark Peers' second half penalty hauled Jim Vince's men back into the game after Yellows keeper Arran Reid saw red for felling Warlow when went clear.
But Witton could not make their extra man count.
They had fallen behind against the run of play in first half stoppage time when former Vics wideman Danny Mayman drilled home from long range.
It was more than his team merited.
Witton got off to a flier when Steve Brodie's shot was blocked by the outstretched leg of Russell Cooke before Brodie bent the rebound off target.
Jon Kennedy was called on to make his first save on 22 minutes before Albion's calls for a penalty were ignored following Bobby Wilson's challenge on Warlow.
Liam Brownhill's dribble ended with his shot deflecting wide, while Dave MacPherson's 20-yard effort achieved the same result.
A swift Hucknall counter raid down the right saw the ball delivered to unmarked Ben Kistell but he skied over when it appeared easier to score.
Town came out rejuvenated after the break and Kennedy was called on twice in quick succession to make saves.
Rob Lloyd sent Warlow clear but Albion's leading marksman was premature with his celebration when the ball agonisingly struck the far post.
Rod Thornley was thwarted by Wilson's lunge on the line before Kennedy had to pull a save straight out of the top drawer to push over Ben Saunders' close range header.
On 73 minutes Warlow had the ball in the net after Brian Pritchard's header was spilled by replacement keeper Gavin Smith but the goal was chalked off.
Sub John Dillon almost netted with his first touch but sent his shot wide before Thornley fired off target and Smith denied Lloyd as Hucknall hung on.
