ALEX Brown bagged an early contender for goal of the season as Witton racked their third win of the week.

The midfielder arced a stunning shot into the top corner to finish a flowing counter attack led by Rob Lloyd and Steve Brodie on the half hour.

Rob Lloyd headed a second to seal the points.

It was a performance reminiscent of last term when Albion ran in five goals against the Cumbrian outfit.

The scene was set in the opening minute when home keeper Ryan Smith palmed away Dorryl Proffitt's shot following after Mark Peers combined with Steve Brodie.

Five minutes later Brodie's shot grazed the top of the crossbar following Peers' flag kick.

Next to try his luck was Adam Warlow when he got onto a high cross from the left by Peers but his header went agonisingly wide of the right upright. When Kendal managed to apply some pressure either side of the half hour it needed a perfectly timed tackle from Brian Pritchard to stop Peter Wright picking his spot.

Albion countered immediately to take the lead.

Brown, with four defenders in close proximity, made space to cut into the penalty area before unleashing a shot from 15 yards that flew into the top left corner of the net.

Five minutes later it was 2-0.

Peers' corner was headed on by Pritchard and, with a beautifully timed advance into the six-yard box Lloyd conjured a rare headed goal.

On the hour newcomer Cavell Coo was then involved in the best move of the second period, instigating a build up that saw Brown find Brodie who in turn produced a shot that dipped just over the bar.

Peers' final action for the afternoon saw him flash a low shot inches past the left post.
