ROSS Lloyd’s wonder goal – his first for Witton – rescued a point for Gary Finley’s men at promotion hopefuls Glapwell.
He stunning long-distance shot flashed in off the crossbar to cancel out Aaron Shelley’s opener, earning the visitors a deserved draw.
They left feeling unfulfilled though.
Albion had more possession than their hosts before half time, their best moments a Brad Maylett pot-shot that fizzed past the upright and Ryan Broadhead’s effort – the finishing touch to a slick move involving Peter Heler, Ronnie Morgan and Carl Lamb – that was smothered by Glapwell custodian Andy Richmond.
However just like they did at Wincham Park ten days earlier Glapwell scored against the run of play on 23 minutes.
Witton were sloppy to lose possession on their left flank and, possibly hoping for an offside flag, then allowed Ian Brown to get to the byline from where he provided a low cross for Shelley to convert from close range.
Within a quarter of an hour though Albion were level.
Two Glapwell players lay on the ground in the visitors' half, but the referee allowed to continue and a crisp move culminated in Lloyd letting fly from 35-yards to restore parity.
Witton should have been gone into the break ahead when in stoppage time Danny Warner drifted a cross onto the head of Carl Lamb, but he headed against the post.
If Albion enjoyed most of the possession in the first period, then the second saw them even more in the ascendancy despite rarely forcing Richmond to make a save.
They went close a couple of times; on the hour mark Heler's cross from the left saw Morgan's header go wide of the far post then top scorer Steve Foster was only a whisker away from connecting with a similar centre from the opposite flank.
Witton were almost undone with seconds on the clock though when Warner’s pocket was picked by on-loan front man Jamie Clarke, but his final ball was a poor one and the chance was spurned.
A draw did neither team’s promotion prospects much of a boost.
