WILL Jones’ late winner ensured Albion exacted revenge on Rugby Town to aid their promotion push.

Rugby had become the first side to beat Witton at Wincham Park in the league only a week earlier.

However, Jones’ late intervention and Steve Tames’ earlier strike allowed them to turn the tables.

In a game that saw plenty of action, Albion hit the front when frontman Tames took advantage Kyle Rowley’s mistimed header to steer past home custodian Louis Connor.

The lead was a short-lived one as Albion stopper Danny Roberts had a moment to forget.

His mix-up with Scott Lycett allowed David Kolodynski a simple finish to level matters.

Roberts redeemed himself shortly after when, after Lycett clipped Kolodynski’s heels in the box, he saved the Rugby goalscorer’s penalty.

The second half sparked into life when Aaron Moses-Garvey appeared to flick his head up at Albion’s Paul Williams.

Referee Bradley Hall showed no hesitation in producing a red card for the home substitute.

Even then, it looked as if Rugby would hold on for a point until Jones 86th-minute headed winner.
