WITTON’S players must be wary not to let standards slip when they travel to Worksop, according to manager Brian Pritchard.

Albion have won back-to-back matches on their return to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s top flight, including a 2-1 win at promotion hopefuls Chorley in midweek.

They host FC United of Manchester on Monday afternoon.

“It’s up to the players to carry on what they have started,” said Pritchard.

“The important thing is to avoid falling flat on our faces after playing so well at Chorley.

“At the moment, the team picks itself but those same players need to maintain the same level of performance that they’ve shown in the two games played so far.”

Midfield pair Steve Connors (calf) and Joe Shaw (ankle) are ruled out with injury, while Matt Cross continues his recovery with an appearance for Witton’s reserves.

Chris Gahgan is unavailable.

Worksop registered a first win of the new season at home to North Ferriby on Wednesday following a surprise reverse at Ashton United on the opening day.

Pritchard said: “Worksop is always a difficult place for us to go.

“They will be buoyed by winning in midweek, so will have a go at us.

“We’ve had a great away record since the turn of the year, so it holds no fear for us. I just want the lads to keep their foot on the gas after making a good impression this week.”

Witton are unbeaten in 18 league matches, a sequence that started in February.

They haven’t lost a Northern Premier League encounter away from Wincham Park since last November.
