Albion announce pre-season friendly programme
A VISIT from Football Conference newcomers Macclesfield Town is the highlight of Witton Albion’s pre-season friendly programme, announced this week.
The Silkmen, to be managed by former Northwich Victoria boss Steve King following their relegation from League Two last term, take on Brian Pritchard’s men on Saturday, July 21.
They are followed three days later by Blue Square Bet North promotion hopefuls Stalybridge Celtic.
Albion kick off their preparations for life back in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League top tier with a trip to former tenants Runcorn Linnets on Saturday, July 14.
Cheshire League neighbours Lostock Gralam play host the following Tuesday.
Witton cross the border to play Welsh club Conwy Borough and travel to former league foes Trafford – new signing Joe Shaw’s old club – before the end of the month.
North West Counties League Premier Division champions Ramsbottom United, promoted to Evo-Stik NPL Division One North as a reward, provide the opposition on the first weekend in August.
A short trip to higher-ranked Vauxhall Motors seven days before the campaign curtain-raiser completes the list.
