Albion complete Shaw swoop
MIDFIELDER Joe Shaw is Witton’s first signing of the summer.
A long term transfer target for Albion boss Brian Pritchard, the 25-year-old switches to Wincham Park from former Evo-Stik NPL Division One North rivals Trafford.
“He’s been a constant thorn in our side the past couple of seasons,” said Pritchard.
“Now I hope he can do the same for us.”
Shaw starred in Trafford’s win in Northwich in January, impressing on his previous visit too when he hit a hat-trick in a 5-2 success for the visitors.
Named in the Division One North team of the season last term, he was picked by Trafford supporters as their Player of the Year after scoring 18 goals in 37 starts from midfield.
Pritchard said: “Joe has proven himself over and again at the level below, but I’m certain he can make the step up to the Premier Division with us this season.”
Shaw started his career as a trainee at Huddersfield Town before signing for Mossley following his release in August 2005.
A two-years stay at New Mills preceded a return to Seel Park when ex-Winsford manager Chris Willcock tempted him back, only for him to leave for Trafford in November 2009.
