Witton manager Brian Pritchard says Alex Titchiner will be a major asset to new club Fleetwood Town

WITTON boss Brian Pritchard has tipped Alex Titchiner to be a success in the Football League for new club Fleetwood.

Albion’s leading scorer returned to full time football today, Friday, after signing for a club that finished first in non-league’s top tier last season.

In a statement issued exclusively to the Guardian, he said: “It is with mixed emotion that I make the following statement; Due to a fantastic offer of full time professional football, Alex Titchiner has signed a contract with Fleetwood Town.

Although sad to lose our player, I’m absolutely delighted for Alex and speak on behalf of all the club’s players and supporters when I wish him well at the same time as thanking him for the effort, memories and goals during our promotion-winning season.

Like the whole of the play-offs winning team, he is now immortalised as an Albion legend.

He has conducted himself magnificently on and off the pitch, and I have no doubt he will continue in this vein and prove to be a massive asset to Fleetwood.

I know Witton Albion will have a special place in his heart as it does for both the current team and former players.

I hope the players at the football club will take note of his move and continue to demonstrate the same hard work, discipline and quality of performance, both individually and collectively, in the coming campaign.

It will not only benefit Witton but, as demonstrated by Alex’s move to a professional club, themselves as individuals.

I’ll now continue with the process of improving the squad for next season.”

Well said Mr. Pritchard. Now what is required is more sponsorship and to that end some people are suggesting Witton Albion tack on "of Northwich" to their name. It may make sense given how many times local councillors have said they want to save Vics to perpetuate senior non league football in the town forgetting it seems that Witton even exist. It may even persuade loacl businesses to back the club.
I for one would be interested in what local business people think of this idea and whether it would encourage them to sponsor the club. Brian has done a magnificent job but with a little more money I believe he can take us even further.
