WITTON’S players were the best behaved on the pitch in Evo-Stik NPL Division One North last month.

Five clubs in the section averaged less than a single caution per game during March, with Albion’s tally the lowest of the bunch with just three cautions in eight games.

They sit third in the overall season standings too.

Steve Hobson, Northern Premier League management committee member, presented the award – a 1.5L bottle of The Famous Grouse whisky - to Witton skipper Anthony Sheehan before Monday’s home encounter with Warrington Town.

Meanwhile Lancaster City, winners of the Division One North Fair Play award for the past two seasons and current holders of the FA’s National Respect and Fair Play Award, maintain their lead at the top of the table.

Witton, the club that does not give Northwich a bad name unlike our now defunct neighbours. May I take this opportunity to invite local people to come along and support a club that will make you very welcome, without doubt the friendliest club in the land.

Well played Witton Albion.
The players, the management team and all the backroom staff are a credit to football.
Now lets win the play-offs and get out of this league.
Viva Witton!

Just one more reason to love Witton Albion. All of Northwich should rally behind this club.

I agree. Well done Witton and I hope they get through the play-offs and into the Premier Division, hopefully NVFC will still be there and the rivallry can start again, back to the good old Derby games, so shut up moaning about what one team does and the other does not and just wait and see what happens if the Vics have to drop 1 or 2 leagues then so be it. Life goes on. I'll still be going. (told ya I've calmed down).

Well done Jim, a sensible comment from a Vics fan! The "Dreamland" that some Vics fans are still living in is doing them no good. Accept that you have to start again, this time, like Witton with the supporters having a major say in how their club is run.

I am fed up to the back teeth at the fact that people keep saying football in Northwich needs saving. Football is alive and well in Northwich thanks to the wonderful club that is Witton Albion. We believe in "Fair Play" in everything, including paying our debts. It should be made clear that Vics are only second in the league because they have, to all intents and purposes been spending money they do not have.
