Why should I watch..?

Well, for starters it’s free!

Witton announced on Monday that supporters would not be charged to watch after they confirmed a three-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player at Stocksbridge Park Steels back in February.

The home team need only to score once to increase their tally to 100 goals for the campaign too.

That’s a feat they managed in 2012 when, coincidentally, they were promoted to the Northern Premier League’s top-flight through the play-offs.

Numbers game

Should Witton prevail tomorrow, then they will set a new points record for a side that has finished as runners-up in Division One South.

Shaw Lane, who amassed 94 last season before going on to claim the title this time around, are the current holders.

Curiously, the past three meetings between the teams have been settled by a single goal.

Sheffield have won only once away from home in 2017, at Newcastle back in January.

Man to keep an eye on

Brad Bauress

Marked his 50th start for Witton Albion by scoring in Easter Monday’s 5-0 demolition of Northwich Victoria – his 26th goal of the campaign.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable season, and his form on the field was rewarded at the recent Northern Premier League awards when he received a prize for Young Player of the Year in Division One South.

He was picked as well for the section’s best XI.

Witton team news

Goalkeeper Calvin Hare (side) is rated by manager Carl Macauley as ’50-50’ to feature, so Danny Roberts stands by.

Ryan Hickman (ankle), Tolani Omotola (hamstring) and Tom Owens (calf) are all ruled out by injury, but Anthony Gardner and Paul Williams (both hamstring) are fit.
