CARL Macauley has warned Witton Albion’s players they risk ruining their fine work last week if they take Kidsgrove lightly.

The Northwich outfit has risen to third in the Northern Premier League’s Division One South after winning three successive matches, including a 2-1 victory away to Basford at the weekend.

However their hosts tomorrow, Tuesday, have matched that feat.

Indeed, they are unbeaten during 2017.

“Kidsgrove are going to make life tough for us,” said Macauley, Witton’s manager.

“They’re in a rich vein of form, and it’s a massive game for them too.

“We enjoyed Saturday, and the dressing room was buzzing afterwards – we knew it was a big win for us.

“But we need to quickly come down from that and focus on looking forward to the next game.”

His team will be wise to listen.

Kidsgrove have climbed to 10th in the table during a five-match unbeaten run that has included ending AFC Rushden & Diamonds’ 19-match sequence without losing and draws with promotion play-offs hopefuls Leek and Spalding.

They also won 3-2 at Lincoln United on Saturday.

Macauley said: “We’ve watched Kidsgrove probably four or five times this season.

“They’ve changed in that time, have brought in a couple of lads and switched to a different formation.

“In [captain] Anthony Malbon, they have a player of high quality that has done well at a higher level too.”

Albion can take comfort from the fact they are unbeaten in seven previous meetings since Kidsgrove joined the league in 2002.

They also won the return fixture easily in August.

Full-back Matty Devine (ankle) is an injury doubt, while defender Michael Wilson is unavailable.

Scott Lycett, a goal-scorer at Basford, will continue to deputise.

Front man Danny Reynolds is available after completing a loan move from higher-ranked AFC Telford United.

Kick off is at 7.45pm.
