SAM Wilkinson is hoping Lincoln United’s strikers rediscover their scoring touch ahead of a visit from Witton Albion on Saturday.

The Whites have lost their past three matches in the Northern Premier League’s Division One South, failing to find the net in any of them.

A 6-0 thrashing at home to table-toppers Shaw Lane in midweek was particularly chastening, according to their manager.

“I didn't think we had that sort of performance in us," Wilkinson told the Lincolnshire Echo.

“I didn't see it coming; they were very good, I'll give them that, but we didn't make it hard for them.”

It leaves Lincoln sat 15th in the table, and with momentum lost following a seven-match unbeaten run between the end of October and Christmas.

Wilkinson has added to his squad with signing of striker Conner Robinson from North Ferriby, while Jack McGovern is back at Ashby Avenue too following a brief spell at Gainsborough.

Albion have enjoyed trips to Lincoln since the turn of the century, winning on six of 10 visits.

That sequence includes defeats in two of the past three games there.

However, with five wins from eight away days in the league this term, Carl Macauley’s men have travelled well to date.
