AFTER the mayhem of a midweek FA Trophy exit at Chester, all eyes will be on how Witton react to the disappointment of bowing out after conceding a stoppage-time goal.

They host Carlton, opponents who were the first to beat them in a league fixture this term.

Albion had led 2-0 in the teams’ September meeting, only to concede a decisive goal in the sixth minute of added time.

It was a third successive defeat against the Millers, who the Northwich outfit have never beaten.

Numbers game

Witton haven’t lost any of their six league fixtures at Wincham Park this season, winning five of them.

Nor have they succumbed in any of seven cup ties in front of their own supporters either.

Improving Carlton are unbeaten in their past five Division One South fixtures – their best run of results so far this season.

The Millers have proved durable opponents too when visiting promotion play-offs hopeful on the road this term, losing by a single goal at leaders Shaw Lane, Newcastle and Chasetown.

Man to keep an eye on

Karl Noon

The versatile attacker may be asked to fill in up front if manager Carl Macauley decides to rest leading scorer Rob Hopley.

That would likely leave the former Burscough man as the nearest to Tolani Omotola at the point of Albion’s attack.

Their ability to combine will influence whether Witton can avenge a defeat against the Millers earlier this season.

Albion team news

Witton will again without injured duo Paul Williams (knee) and Steven Tames (ankle), although leading scorer Rob Hopley will be assessed before kick off after tweaking a hamstring early on during Tuesday’s reply with Chester.

Tolani Omotola and Matty Devine, both sent off at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium, are available.

Remember when…

Carlton Town previously visited Wincham Park for a Northern Premier League fixture in March 2010?

Albion lost 3-0, and front man Mike Moseley left the field on a stretcher after breaking his leg in a collision with goalkeeper Antonio Barcherini.

It was a miserable afternoon for Gary Finley’s side, who also had Peter Heler sent off late on.
