FORMER fans’ favourite Danny Andrews lines up against Witton Albion for the first time since his five-year stay at Wincham Park ended in the summer.

But he is not the only one lining up against his old club in Saturday’s FA Trophy first qualifying round tie.

Rob Hopley, Karl Noon, Brad Bauress, Prince Haywood and Michael Wilson have turned out for Bay previously while Tom Schofield, Scott Bakkor, Will Booth and Michael Roddy have played for Albion in the past.

Another, Chris Gahgan, is likely to miss the game through injury.

Numbers game

Witton are unbeaten in six matches since suffering a first defeat of the campaign at Carlton last month, winning five.

They have not reached the FA Trophy’s first round in a decade, since December 2006.

Colwyn Bay ended a sequence of five successive defeats in the competition when they eliminated Northern Premier League Division One North rivals Hyde at the previous stage a fortnight ago.

Man to keep an eye on

Tolani Omotola

The on-loan front man has arguably been Witton’s player of the season so far, scoring 12 goals in as many starts.

He started last Saturday’s league encounter with Loughborough Dynamo as a substitute, but still found the net after his introduction in the second half.

His speed has been a perfect complement to former Bay forward Rob Hopley, who has 10 goals to his name.

Remember when…

Witton knocked Colwyn Bay out of the FA Trophy in a preliminary round tie at Llanelian Road in October 2009.

Brad Maylett scored both goals for the visitors in a 2-0 win.

Rob Hopley, in Bay’s colours, left the action early on a stretcher following a tackle from Steve Hall.
