WITTON Albion, held at home in midweek, will be confident they can return to winning ways against one of the Northern Premier League’s most out-of-form sides.
Visitors Loughborough Dynamo have lost seven of their past eight matches in Division One South, including a 5-0 hammering at improving Chasetown in midweek.
Carl Macauley told the Guardian on Wednesday that his side improved in the second half of a stalemate against Stocksbridge on Tuesday, and so start tomorrow’s contest in optimistic mood.
Numbers game
Albion are unbeaten in all competitions on home turf this season, winning four of their six fixtures at Wincham Park.
Macauley celebrated a year at the helm on Wednesday, and picks the team for the 50th time this weekend.
Loughborough, with 25 from 13 games, have conceded more goals than anybody else in the division.
Man to keep an eye on
Anthony Gardner
The Witton Albion captain’s starting position will be of interest.
With Anthony Brown ruled out by a knee injury, Gardner could switch to the centre of defence alongside Michael Wilson.
Macauley told the Guardian in midweek he would try to recruit a replacement to cover the ex-Burscough man’s enforced absence, which according to initial estimates is expected to be for at least the next fortnight.
Albion team news
Anthony Brown (knee) is ruled out by an injury sustained during a goalless draw with Stocksbridge Park Steels in midweek.
Midfielder Billy Reeves’ temporary stay has ended, and he has returned to parent club Port Vale. The same applies to front man George Miller, who is now back with Bury.
