Following the end of their FA Cup adventure at the second qualifying round stage in midweek, Witton Albion turn their attention back to the league on Saturday.
A 2-1 win for Romulus against Belper Town on Friday pushes Carl Macauley’s men back to fifth in the table, although they have at least two games in hand on those ahead of them.
They will need to find an alternative route to goal though with Rob Hopley unavailable.
Numbers game
Albion are unbeaten in the Northern Premier League this season, winning four of their five matches.
Their defensive record, from fewer games played, is the best in Division One South.
Carlton’s start to the campaign has been a troubled one, yielding a single victory – away to Rugby Town last month – in seven league fixtures.
However they did complete a double, including a 4-1 victory on their own pitch, against Witton when the teams were previously placed in the same division.
Man to keep an eye on
Billy Reeves
The teenager adds dynamism and energy to Witton Albion’s midfield, providing a perfect foil for Paul Williams’ strength.
On loan for an initial month from League One side Port Vale, Reeves’ influence will grow as he becomes accustomed again to the rigours of non-league football.
Albion team news
Rob Hopley is away, but fellow attacker Karl Noon returns after a holiday.
Manager Carl Macauley is hopeful too of being able to call again on Tolani Omotola after the teenager front man, on loan Tranmere Rovers, sat out last week’s FA Cup encounters with Stalybridge because of an injury.
