WITTON Albion start the new season at Stamford, a ground at which they were relegated following a defeat last year.

A fixture list for the Northern Premier League Division One South campaign was published on Friday, sending Carl Macauley’s men to Lincolnshire on the opening afternoon.

Albion went down 3-2 there in April 2015, after leading 2-0 at half-time – a loss that ended a three-year stay in the Premier Division.

They return to the Zeeco Stadium on Saturday, August 13.

Stamford were relegated from the top flight at the end fo last term.

Kidsgrove Athletic are the first visitors to Wincham Park the following Tuesday before Witton switch their attention to the FA Cup.

They will head to Atherton Collieries or Bacup Borough, both North West Counties League teams.

A trip to Sheffield and then a home date with Market Drayton Town on Bank Holiday Monday completes August.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Leek Town are among the visitors to Northwich in September, a month that concludes with a trip to Newcastle Town – a side now managed by former Albion boss Scott Dundas.

Derby dates with tenants Northwich Victoria have been scheduled for Boxing Day and Easter Monday.

A short journey to Market Drayton marks the start of 2017, while the season ends with a visit from Sheffield.
