NEW Witton Albion boss Scott Dundas hopes his side can take the enthusiasm showing in training into their first pre-season fixture this Saturday.

Albion’s visit to Welsh second tier outfit Mold Alexandra will be the first time Dundas will get to see his side in action.

“It’s quite a buzz about the place at the moment and hopefully we can take that into pre-season and then the league,” he said.

“We’ve been trying to rebuild a new team and now we can see them in a game for the first time, so they’re excited about that as well.”

And the 41-year-old says a busy pre-season schedule is the best way to prepare his squad for the Evo-Stik First Division North campaign.

“We play Saturday, have a couple of training sessions and then it’s Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday for three or four weeks,” he explained.

“It’s quite hectic, but it’s how the league will start so it gets them used to travelling away on a Tuesday and when they have to be in the ground.

“The majority of players have signed already and it’s just putting another couple of names on forms of those who have been with us for the past sessions.

“We still have a couple of players coming down to see what they think of us and what we think of them.”

Witton have been drawn at home to Ossett Albion in the FA Trophy preliminary round, while they will visit Trafford in the FA Cup.

“It’s always nice having a home draw but we just look at whether it’s a ‘winnable’ tie,” said Dundas, who guided Norton United to the FA Cup first round last year.

“With both being our league they are definitely ‘winnable’, but we’ll be doing our homework for these cup competitions.

“Witton haven’t had a good cup run for a couple of seasons so it would be nice to do well.”
