SCHOOLCHILDREN can watch Witton matches without paying this season as part of a new initiative.

Albion plan to launch the scheme ahead of Saturday’s campaign opener against Ilkeston at Wincham Park, when young fans can collect a pass at the turnstile that will permit entry to every home match in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Their Kids Go Free offer is open to boys and girls under the age of 15.

“We believe strongly that children who live in Northwich and the surrounding area should have the opportunity to watch their local team play,” said Alex Titchiner, Witton’s newly-appointed community project manager.

“Nor should it cost them a single penny.”

Chairman Mark Harris told the Guardian that Thursday’s announcement marks the first of many from a programme being put together by Titchiner.

He added: “This is a statement.

“It’s not a new idea – I started a Kids for a Quid offer at Altrincham 25 years ago – and there are loads of schemes and mechanisms out there, some of which we’ve tried before.

“However we’ve broken this down to be as simple as possible, no strings attached.

“If you’re under 15 and want to watch the highest level of football on offer locally, then you can come to Wincham Park and enjoy it with your mates.

“You don’t need to persuade mum or dad to come along too, and they can be assured this is a safe environment to see a game.”
