Match pointers
WITTON Albion’s incentive to beat Frickley Athletic tomorrow, Saturday, is they could climb from the Premier Division relegation zone for the first time in 2014.

Brian Pritchard’s men have won only once in the league since the end of November, a sequence of 10 matches, to leave them three points adrift of fifth-bottom Barwell.

They have a favourable record at home to Blues though, winning five of the past half dozen – drawing the other – league meetings between the two at Wincham Park.

Cliff Moyo (hamstring), plus long-term absentees Anthony Sheehan (knee) and Dave Walker (hernia), are ruled out by injury.

The manager’s main dilemma is whether to use Scott Bakkor from the start in attack alongside recently returned Alex Titchiner.

Frickley have played five more matches than their hosts, including a 2-0 reverse at title favourites Chorley in midweek.

Top scorer Gavin Allott is banned, as is full back Steve Gardner, while skipper Matty Bloor suffered a season-ending injury in a Doodson Sport League Cup match at Brigg last month.

The Yorkshire outfit have won only once in 14 previous visits to Witton for a league game; a 2-0 win back in December 1996.

However both of their away wins this term have been at hosts in the table’s bottom half – Stafford Rangers and Stocksbridge.
