Match pointers
WITTON ALBION’S first target in 2014 is to improve on a sequence that has seen them win only once in the Premier Division in their past eight attempts.

Five of those matches ended in defeat.

They have lost the past two at Wincham Park as well, leaving them five points adrift of a position of safety when tomorrow’s match starts.

There is some encouragement for Brian Pritchard’s men in that they have won three of five head-to-heads this season on their own pitch against opponents from the table’s bottom half.

Anthony Sheehan (knee) and Neville Thompson (ankle) are long-term injury absentees, while goalkeeper Stuart Plant is serving a suspension as punishment for a dismissal in a reserve game.

Chris Simm, absent for last weekend’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Trafford, should be available again in attack.

Visitors Stamford have lost just twice in their past nine league games, and are unbeaten in the previous three outings.

That said only three sides – Buxton plus bottom two Stafford Rangers and Droylsden – have scored fewer goals on their travels.

Leading scorer Ryan Robbins is available again after a three-match suspension, though on-loan front man David Moyo has been recalled by parent club Northampton Town.

Defender Alvin Jarvis (finger) and midfielder Ash Robinson (hand) are ruled out by injury too.
