Winnington Park host Wigan in first league match of the season

WINNINGTON Park will kick off the South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One season in the familiar surroundings of Burrows Hill.

Mark Warr’s men host Wigan on the campaign’s opening day on Saturday, September 4.

Park finished seventh in the standings last season, one point and as many places better off than Wigan, and will target a place higher up the table this time around.

This term’s trip to the Isle of Man to take on Vagabonds is scheduled for January.

Ashton-on-Mersey and Liverpool Collegiate have been promoted from Division Two, replacing doomed duo Dukinfield and Warrington, while Lancashire-based club Tyldesley drop down from North One West.

Wirral went in the other direction as champions.

Widnes and Bowdon, tied on points for second place behind the champions last season, will be the teams to beat once more.
