THE referee ended this non-contest after an hour, long enough for rampant Winnington Park to post another record total.

They can clinch the title with a victory at Liverpool Collegiate, their closest-rivals in South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two, on Saturday.

A procession of tries against depleted opponents, who arrived at Burrows Hill propping up the table and with 14 only players, started inside 60 seconds when Matt Treacy sprinted to the line.

The home team, who had posted 116 points at Port Sunlight seven days earlier, added 11 more tries to their total before the break.

Dan Snowden claimed the pick of those, supporting a blistering run by forward Danny Williams before the back-row forward slipped a pass to his teammate.

The pattern was unchanged after the interval, when Matt Farr’s men added gloss to a 23rd successive league win with eight more tries in a 20-minute spell.

Replacement Jimmy Moran’s 40-metre dash to the line was a highlight, earning warm applause from the hosts’ followers.

However injuries sustained by visiting players prompted the match official to call time following a conversation with Park captain Dave Cross and his opposite number.

Farr said: “Our next game is now the most important.

“We’ll need to refocus, and it would be great to have as many supporters as possible travel with us to watch a game that will hopefully see us crowned champions.”

They start this weekend’s game with a seven-point lead at the table’s summit.

Park will conclude their campaign at home to Oldershaw on Saturday week, May 5, before visiting Oswestry a fortnight later.
