WINNINGTON Park continue to overcome obstacles put in their way.

Heaton Moor were third in the table at the start of Saturday’s contest, and had won seven of eight home fixtures in the league.

They had also got closer than anybody else to beating Matt Farr’s men previously following a narrow 7-5 defeat at Burrows Hill in the return game.

And they led this meeting too.

A converted try, after breaking through Park’s defensive line, gave them hope of an upset.

However they did not score again.

Shaun Underdown powered over from close-range to start his side’s recovery before Cameron Flanagan’s penalty, awarded after a high tackle on scrum-half Jack Williams, edged them in front.

They did not look back.

Flanagan landed a pair of three-pointers early in the second-half, during a period when Underdown was in the sin-bin, to add to his side’s advantage.

Jack Williams was next to dot down following a scrum five metres out after an opponent had knocked on.

Sensing their hosts’ resolve weakening, Park were celebrating again shortly afterwards when Underdown charged to the line from 30 metres out.

Flanagan added the extras.

The visitors continued to apply pressure and Danny Williams was next to cross the whitewash, securing a bonus-point too, following another flowing move.

Farr sent on Ryan Williams and Jamie Pugh for the closing stages, during which their teammates added gloss when full-back James Johnson claimed a fifth try.

Harry Stubbs had set the attack in motion after making his a loose ball on the ground.
