THE loss of scrum half James Moran appeared to be Park’s undoing on Saturday as their visitors went on to open up an unassailable lead.

Boosted by the return of Ian Moriarty, Winnington played with control but lacked the discipline and patience required to make the most of the opportunities they created.

The positives from defeat were a first-team debut for Gareth Marshall, who came on late in the game to complete an incredible season that started in the fourth team at Burrows Hill..

After a good start for Park, Glossop found their feet and from a lineout in Winnington’s 22 and drove to the line to open the scoring.

Park replied by rounding off a smart passage of play with a neat handling movement that saw Jack Williams race to the line to level.

Williams and his counterpart exchanged penalties to leave the score at 10-10 at the break.

Winnington then lost scrum half Moran to a head injury which forced a reshuffle and the hosts never got into the second half until the game seemed lost.

Glossop scored two tries and a penalty to take the scoreline to 23-10 and the game appeared to be over as a contest.

However, Park did spring to life and strung some excellent phases together that should have seen them converting the pressure into points but the final decision let them down time and again.

After an excellent Lewis Pickering break it looked like the chance had gone but the ball was moved to the right for the ever-improving Josh Gibbins to dive over in the corner.

Jack Williams converted from the touchline to give Park hope of snatching a last gap victory.

It was not to be though.
