PARK can edge closer to the table’s top half if they humble Hoylake this weekend.

The men from Burrows Hill start Saturdays encounter six points adrift of their guests after recording back-to-back league wins for the first time since December 2011.

Beating Bowdon was not easy either for the hosts.

The visitors prioritised keeping possession during the early exchanges, frustrating Winnington until Lee Allmark intercepted a loose pass before sprinting half the length of the field to touch down.

Back row trio Harry Stubbs, David Cross and Dan Williams defended stoutly as Bowdon rallied, stand-off Ste Lowe putting pressure on his opposite number too in an evenly-matched contest.

Park’s second try was an imitation of their first, this time full back Michael Jones stealing a ball intended for an opponent.

Sam Brookes’ conversion stretched their lead.

A drop goal accounted for the away team’s only score before the break.

The pattern did not deviate in the second half, Mark Warr’s side struggling to get their hands on the ball for long enough to put together a try-scoring move.

When they did, Jones combined with Allmark, who sent in winger Craig Lamb.

At 17-3, Park invited pressure when Shaun Underdown was sent to the sin bin.

Bowdon made the extra man count, scoring a converted try and a penalty to close to within four points by the end of the game.
