NORTHWICH Victoria’s scheduled home match with Stalybridge Celtic this afternoon was postponed little more than an hour before kick off.
Part of the Victoria Stadium pitch was too hard following an overnight frost, according to match referee Richard Bartlett.
The visitors’ players had already arrived for the Blue Square North encounter when the official made the decision at around 1.40pm, leaving the hosts to rearrange another league game.
No new date has yet been set.
AFC Telford United’s home clash with Eastwood Town was also called off at the last minute, leading to the Bucks’ chairman Lee Carter to say sorry to supporters.
He said: “There is no point trying to make excuses. We got it wrong end of story and feel rotten for it."

Paul (telford Fan), Telford says...
12:24pm Mon 1 Feb 10
Telford instructed a local match official to carry out an early pitch inspection when it became clear the pitch would be unplayable.
The Telford chairman has apologised but there was probably very little more that could have been done to get the game on.
