Match Pointers
NORTHWICH Victoria will be desperate to end a three-matches losing streak Ieague and cup on the road at Gloucester City.

Manager Andy Preece will be without Jonny Allan (knee), who faces a spell on the sidelines through injury, so may stick with Jon Newby at the point of his attack.

Aaron Burns, back at the Victoria Stadium after a two-months spell at Altrincham, is an alternative along with Wayne Riley.

The Vics boss hinted at changes following the midweek reverse at home to Hinckley United, so there may be a reshuffle in midfield too.

Vics last won on the road in the Blue Square North on September 19 at Gainsborough Trinity. Since then they have drawn at Ilkeston Town, Stafford Rangers and Hyde United.

Victory at Gloucester, currently five places and six points better off, would likely move them away from the bottom three.

Opponents Gloucester were surprise 3-0 winners at play-offs hopefuls Eastwood Town in midweek, winning back-to-back league matches for the first time this season.

Dave Mayhew’s men have won three of their past four Blue Square North encounters.

They lost last season’s top scorer Alex Sykes this week following his switch to neighbours Bishop’s Cleeve, so wide man Lee Smith has taken on the mantle of getting the Tigers’ goals.

Jack Pitcher was on target for the first time since joining the club at Coronation Park on Tuesday, and manager Dave Mayhew has asked him and fellow front man Mike Symons to chip in with more goals.

But Gloucester have struggled in front of the supporters in their temporary home at Cirencester’s Corinium Stadium, winning just three of their nine league encounters there this term.

That said, a fourth success there tomorrow will take them into the top half of the table for the first time this season.
