Match Pointers
ANDY Preece’s main problem is covering the absence of suspended top scorer Mark Danks, who has scored nine goals in three appearances in this season’s FA Cup run.

But the Vics boss found a winning formula against Charlton in the last round, also a game that the former AFC Telford United front man missed.

Aaron Burns, who returned from a two-months loan spell at Altrincham this week, is cup-tied after featuring for the Robins on their first round defeat at Mansfield Town.

Vics have conceded only one goal in four matches in this year’s competition; Chris Amadi’s late consolation for Chorley in the third qualifying round.

Visitor Lincoln City could almost field a team made up entirely of those who can’t play against Northwich.

Anthony Pulis limped off in Tuesday’s 2-0 reverse at Rotherham United and is rated at less than 50/50, while full back Paul Green only played for the reserves for the first time this week after having hip surgery in the summer.

Winger Sergio Torres is out until the New Year after damaging ankle ligaments.

Aaron Brown – sent off at Cheltenham earlier this month along with assistant manager Ian Pearce – is suspended tomorrow, Saturday.

On-loan pair Nathan Baker and Eric Lichaj (both Aston Villa) have been refused permission to play by their parent clubs, but Nottingham Forest youngster Joe Heath can feature. Midfielder Chris Herd, signed on loan from Aston Villa yesterday, Thursday, could go straight into the starting line-up in place of cup-tied Michael Gordon.

Manager Chris Sutton fielded Jamie Clarke as a lone striker against the Millers, but could recall Chris Fagan or Rene Howe to bolster the attack at the Victoria Stadium.

He borrowed former Bolton Wanderers front man Delroy Facey from League Two rivals Notts County too on a day of frantic activity yesterday, but the 29-year-old is cup-tied too.

The Imps’ third newcomer of the week is likely to be another striker, former Rangers man David Gilmour, who has been on trial at Sincil Bank. If registered in time he will be available to face Vics tomorrow, Saturday.
