Trust respond to Connett

VICS supporters' trust has refuted Mike Connett's claim the town does not want a team.

On Thursday the chairman said the club did not have enough fans to compete in the Blue Square Premier.

Not so, was the trust's response.

"We don't share Mr Connett's view that the people of Northwich can't support the club further at this level," read a statement.

"It has played at this level for 27 of the past 28 years."

They also denied they had any interest in coming in to run the current club.

"We wish to correct one point in Mr Connett's statement," continued the statement.

"At the present time the trust is working on the assumption that it will be starting a completely new football club for next season."
