WINNINGTON Park could not protect an interval lead established by Adam Jones’ goal when they went down at Colwyn Bay.

The home rallied to score twice during a scrappy second-half, putting second spot in the table beyond reach for their Northwich-based guests.

Paul Lancaster was the best performer for Park, who have a trip to Keswick to rearrange before concluding their North West League programme.

A 2-0 victory for Park’s seconds against their Colwyn Bay counterparts at Sir John Deane’s College was secured by goals from Dan Connah and Ryan Crouchley – picked afterwards as their man of the match.

The hosts dominated the opening period, but could not break through.

Winnington’s thirds went down 2-0 at home to Neston’s sixths – a rival for promotion from Division Seven South West.

The teams could not be separated before half-time, although Neston scored first after the interval.

Park took more risks in attack, and fell further behind after struggling to convert their possession into chances.

Andy Rawlings was the pick of their players.

Fabian Hickson’s goal earned for Winnington’s fourths a deserved share of the spoils from a draw with Llandudno seconds.

Already certain to finish third in Division Eight South West, they were denied by both the opposition’s goalkeeper and the woodwork during the first half.

Llandudno nicked a goal from a rare raid before Park regrouped during the interval.

A rehearsed short-corner routine between Liam McKee and Hickson yielded a leveller.
