Alderley Edge Ladies 2nd 2-1 Winnington Park Ladies 1
THIS fixture was completed at the third attempt on Sunday following postponements previously, although the visitors were depleted by absences.
Goalkeeper Helen Hogben was in inspired form for Winnington Park, who made the Cheshire Women’s League leaders work hard for their victory.
Karen Morgan converted Chris Davies’ cross to cancel out a first-half goal for the home team before they earned a reward for their pressure with a decisive second.
Winnington Park Ladies 4-2 Macclesfield Ladies
WINNINGTON Park ended a run of three successive defeats when they recorded a first win of a new calendar year at Moss Farm on Saturday.
Jaz Barlow scored a hat-trick, and Jen Young’s solo effort added to their tally, to send her side up to third in the table.
Macc managed to score twice at the other end, but they never threatened to prevent their hosts from taking maximum points.
Deeside Ramblers Ladies 3rd 1-0 Winnington Park Ladies 2nd
THE table’s leading teams were separated by a single goal on Saturday, when Winnington were prevented from scoring for only the second time this season.
They battled throughout, and in-form goalkeeper Sofi Waterer was picked afterwards as their player of the match for her performance behind a solid defence made up of Julia Harries, Beth Preston and Coral Taylor.
However they could not keep out the Cheshire Women’s League Division Four pace-setters, who remain unbeaten.
