Winnington Park Ladies 2-2 Warrington Ladies

WINNINGTON Park let slip a two-goal interval lead during a draw with Warrington in the Cheshire League’s top-flight last weekend.

The visitors to Moss Farm ended a four-match losing run as a result.

However that sequence looked likely to be extended when Jaz Barlow’s speed took her into a space from which she teed up Hattie Hill for an opening goal.

Barlow then doubled the home team’s lead before the break.

Marian Taig deflected in at a short-corner to make it 2-1 before Kate Connolly restored parity with a powerful strike from another rehearsed routine.

Oxton Ladies 3rd 1-0 Winnington Park Ladies 2nd

A FIRST defeat of the season in the Cheshire League left Winnington Park feeling frustrated.

However they remain top of the table.

They started a meeting with Oxton depleted by absences caused by a motorway closure, and had to field a line-up with players in unfamiliar roles.

The home team had broken through in challenging conditions before the visitors were restored to a full complement in the second-half.

They applied pressure to their opponents’ defence, but could not conjure an equalising goal.
