STUART Kellett remains in the running to appear at the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Players’ Championship finals later this year despite a disappointing weekend.
The Northwich thrower added £500 to his rankings total over two days at Barnsley Metrodome, leaving him just outside the top 64 in a table that determines a field to compete at Butlins Minehead Resort in November.
He won a last-leg decider against Dutchman Jan Dekker in the first round on Saturday before a 6-2 reverse against Maik Langendorf, from Austria, ended his run at the last 64 stage.
The Cheshire regular returned to the oche on Sunday afternoon, only to twice let slip at two-leg lead against Bryan de Hoog – another Dutch darter – in a first-round encounter before bowing out 6-4.
Kellett now sits 70th on the ladder, with a £750 gap to the final qualifying place currently occupied by Ted Evetts.
Two more Players’ Championship tournaments, also at Barnsley, are scheduled for next month.
Well Iv been playing ok but today was woeful. God knows where that came from. Shocking! 😠😠
