LION B landed a blow in a fight to be promoted to the Northwich and District League’s top-flight when they defeated leaders Witton Chimes A.
A 5-2 victory boosts the Moulton outfit’s hopes, while Barn Owl E recorded a sixth successive win – this time whitewashing Lion A – to close a gap to two points at the Division Two table’s summit.
Owley Wood swap places with Barn Owl B after winning their clash by the odd frame, while Moulton Legion ended a four-match losing run by beating Greenbank C.
Meanwhile Iron Bridge boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with a narrow 4-3 win at Gladstone D.
Pacesetters Barn Owl A shared six frames with third-placed Blue Barrel A in Division Three, only to win by default because their guests were a player short on the night.
Their lead is now worth 19 points as a result.
The men from Castle still rise above Wheatsheaf, who did not have a game.
Elsewhere, Joe Prestage won a decisive seventh frame for Witton Chimes B to secure a 4-3 victory against Green Dragon B.
Gladstone C continue to lead the way in Division One following a routine home win against Castle A, while second-placed Castle D restricted visiting Greenbank A to a single frame.
In-form Craig Bourne made a maximum break for a second successive week for third-placed Castle B, who proved too strong for Gladstone A.
Andy Hollinshead also potted all eight balls from a single visit to the table in his frame success for the visitors.
There were wins too for Green Dragon A, who whitewashed back-markers Castle C, and Gladstone B at the expense of Nectar’s.
