BARN Owl A caused the biggest upset in the Northwich and District League Team Knockout on Wednesday when they saw off top-flight Greenbank A.
That makes them the only Division Three side to reach the quarter finals.
Nectar’s also lost to lower-ranked opponents, going down 4-1 at Witton Chimes A.
Holders Gladstone C brushed aside Blue Barrel A, while Gladstone B were impressive victors against Division One rivals Castle B.
Green Dragon A edged Greenbank C by the odd frame, while Barn Owl B eliminated league rivals Owley Wood.
Lion B almost added their name to a list of sides to topple a foe from a higher level, only for Fred Backhouse to win a deciding frame for Castle D.
Barn Owl H were the only bottom tier team to defeat opponents from Division Two in the Supplementary Shield, sending out Gladstone D.
Elsewhere, Greenbank B were victors on their travels to Broken Cross and Blue Barrel B saw off Green Dragon B.
Barn Owl E squeezed past visiting Lion A, while Iron Bridge proved too strong for Wheatsheaf.
Division One duo Castle A, who won the competition last season, and clubmates Castle C join Witton Chimes in having a bye to the last eight.
Both competitions resume next month.
