DAVE Fearon completed the Nova Cycling Club 25 in less than an hour on Saturday.

The Weaver Valley Cycling Club member stopped the clock on 59.13 to classify 14th overall in an event won by Darren Maironis (Coveryourcar RT).

He completed the one-and-a-half lap course, which starts off the A353 before looping around Knutsford and returning on the A50, in a time of 54.50.

Weaver Valley’s Caroline Fearon battled a headwind to post 1:13.07, ranking 13th in a Manchester and District Ladies’ Cycling Association event on the same course.

Dame Sarah Storey (Podium Ambition Club La Santa) continued her preparations for competing in Rio next month by claiming an emphatic victory more than five minutes ahead of her nearest rival.

On Wednesday, Jim Williams improved on a personal best set 35 years ago when he timed 21.21 at the Team Swift 10.

It earned him fifth place overall in an event won by Shawn Gough (Tuxford Clarion) in 20.09.

Weaver Valley clubmate Alan Shuttleworth clocked 26.19 on his trike, his best marker as a veteran.

Last weekend, Dave Fearon won one of the tightest ever Weaver Valley Cycling Club 100-mile time trial championships.

He took gold in 4:22.31, pipping runner-up Jim Duffy – who knocked nine minutes off his previous best – by a single second.

Williams was third in 4:53.32 in a contest run as part of the Manchester and District Time Trial Association 100 Championships.

Ben Norbury (Congleton CC) was the overall victor in 3:52.44.
