TWO Weaver Valley Cycling Club riders tackled the classic Anfield Bicycle Club 100-mile time trial.
Jim Williams, who was knocked from his bike by a car on his previous attempt more than a quarter of a century ago, stopped the clock this time in 4:33.25.
Clubmate Dave Fearon classified inside the top 35 in 4:23.33.
First-timer Ryan Perry (Langdale Lightweights) flew home in 3:33.20, a new course and event record.
Lee Suthard completed the latest round of the Guardian Cup 10-mile time trial series in 22.04 last Tuesday.
Weaver Valley teammate Chris Gilbertson followed him in second, clocking 25.09.
Among the women, Jo Blakeley timed 25.24 – a personal best - to rank third overall.
That made her the highest points-scorer on the evening.
Nick Butterworth, riding a fixed gear, shaved 37 seconds from his previous best to finish in 26.11.
Meanwhile novice Emily Martin classified seventh in a Manchester and District Ladies' Cycling Association 25 on Saturday, timing 1:08.02.
Caroline Fearon was 10th in 1:11.23,
The winner, Christine Murray, clocked 1:01:25.
The men took part in Stretford Wheelers’ 25 shortly afterwards, during which Jim Duffy clocked a course best of 57.32.
Dave Fearon (58.02), Gilbertson (1:01.16), debutant Stuart Ward (1:02.45), Colin Carthy (1:04.03) and Alan Shuttleworth (1:12.32) competed in Weaver Valley’s colours too.
