AN in-form girls’ crew collected silver as Northwich Rowing Club returned from the weekend’s National Schools’ Regatta with two medals.
Neighbours Grange School won one.
Teenagers Lucy Gillbanks and Beth Willford-Dutton were part of a Championship double scull that was third fastest to complete the course at Dorney Lake in a time trial on Sunday.
The duo were first in their semi final, then classified second behind Headington School in the A final.
They had prepared for one of the biggest events on the junior calendar by winning at Nottingham City Regatta a fortnight earlier.
Northwich’s second men’s quad of Lawrence Williams, Rhys Coffey, Matthew Radford and George Crouchley claimed bronze in their boat class.
The Championship quad, with Greg Murphy, Kevin Dudley Harry Taylor and George Lawton on board, reached the A final but missed out on a medal after finishing sixth.
They had been third fastest in their semi final.
Lawton and Taylor joined forces to win the B final in a Championship double, ranking eighth overall.
Grange School’s second girls’ quad collected bronze in their category in one of the three-day event’s final races at a venue used for the London Olympic Games four years ago.
Sian Walker, Milly Glendinning, Izzy Highett and Poppy Howe were on board, trailing crews from Nottingham and Warrington.
An under 14s boys’ coxed quad of Seb Paisley, Jack McGinn, Brad Strickland-Baker, Harry Barker and Olivia Andrew were sixth for Grange in their A final.
Archie Simpson, James Bell, Latchen Kinghorn-Perry, Tom Butler and cox Fabian Hickson were fifth in an A final for under 15s boys’ second coxed quads.
Meanwhile Alice Barnett, Joanna Ravenscroft, Neve Bradshaw, Bree Livesey and cox Hana Patel won the B final for Grange in an under 15s girls’ second coxed quad.
