JIM Williams, of Weaver Valley Cycling Club, produced a fast performance during Mid Shropshire Wheelers’ 50-mile time trial on Sunday.

He rode at a consistent pace over four laps of the course, clocking 2:08.28 to finish 31st.

John Dewey (Team Bottrill) was first in 1:44.46.

Promising novice Emily Martin was among Weaver Valley’s best performers during the latest Manchester and District Time Trial Association 25 on a course near Chelford.

She timed 1:06.45, while Caroline Fearon posted 1:13.34.

Among the men, Chris Gilbertson (1:01.23), Alistair Stanway (58.22) and Dave Fearon (58.02) fared well.

However Geoff Mullett, with 57.01, was the fastest of the club’s contingent.

Dave Crawley (Velotik Racing Team) topped the time-sheet in 52.00.

In the third week of the Dave Astles Memorial Road Race series at Siddington, Weaver Valley’s Iain Young rode strongly to finish fourth in his age category – and ninth overall.

Chris Quinn (Macclesfield Wheelers) led the way.

In another race same evening, Weaver Valley’s Mark Adshead took ninth in class while Nigel Kershaw (Kuota Spinergy Racing) crossed the line first.
