GRANGE School Rowing Club celebrated winning a medal on the national stage at the weekend.
An under 14s boys’ coxed quad, representing the North West, took third place in the final during the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.
Seb Paisley, Jack McGinn, Bradley Strickland-Baker, Harry Barker and cox Olly Andrew were on board, progressing directly to the final following a solid row in their heat.
“They made a nervy start but showed maturity beyond their years to fight back and win a medal,” said Graham Jump, head coach at the Hartford school.
Tom Swithenbank, from Northwich Rowing Club, and Queen’s Park High School student Harrison Kendall were seventh in an under 15s boys’ double scull.
The North West classified third in the Victor Ludorum.
They ranked in the same position in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
Thames Upriver claimed overall honours.
The annual championship is contested by all of British Rowing's regions, with the Thames split into three - Upriver, London and South East - to make a dozen teams in total.
