SHAUN Brearley has claimed a third Northwich and District League Division One singles title after beating Kevin Barry in the final.

The Gladstone C man denied his rival from Rudheath a maiden success in the competition with a 4-1 win.

Keith Lloyd, of Barn Owl E, held his nerve to pot a final black in the Division Two showdown with Tony Little (Witton Chimes) after initially surrendering a 3-0 lead.

There was less drama for Martyn Raistrick (Lion B) when he saw off Mark Taylor (Greenbank B) in Division Three.

Barn Owl B's Jo Taylor won three successive frames to successfully defend her ladies' singles crown, edging out Lesley Davies (Barn Owl E) last Wednesday.

It marks the fourth time she has taken first prize following back-to-back wins in 2009 and again the following year.

She completed a successful season with victory in the mixed doubles too, registering a whitewash of Barn Owl H's Helen and Matthew Fallows with partner Steve Whitlow.

As they did in 2015, Darryl Fallows and Michael Holness (Gladstone C) were the best combination in Division One, squeezing past Steve Moores and Eric Webber after a decider.

In Division Two, the title went to Barn Owl B duo Colin Sowerbutts and Barry Watkins following a 4-2 success against Lion A tandem Andy Jones and Michael Hitchens.

Two pairings from the same club, Lion B, faced off for the Division Three title.

Raistrick, playing with Peter Blain, was denied a second title after a 4-2 reverse against Antony Dale and Dave Spruce.
