HOCKEY: Heavy defeat for Winnington Park at champions Sale
DEPLETED Winnington Park Ladies suffered an 8-1 defeat at champions Sale in the Chehsire Women's League top flight.
The table-toppers dominated, and made the Northiwch outfit's 10 players cover lots of ground that hampered their performance later on.
Park’s only goal came from Helen Cartin.
They visit Lymm Ladies seconds in their final outing hoping to retain fourth place in the Division one table.
Park seconds lost 3-1 to their Wilmslow counterparts.
Helen Hogben returned in goal after a maternity break and frustrated the Wilmslow forwards with her shot-stopping ability.
Park’s only goal came from Julie Rafferty.
They host Lymm thirds on Saturday, push back 12.30pm.
