FORMER county champion Matthew Robinson is planning a challenge for the British Superkart Racing Club Championship title next season.

The Rudheath racer, currently studying at Lancaster University, contested the final round of the 2015 edition at Donington Park after taking delivery of a new machine.

He was 19th overall in sodden conditions, third in the 125cc class, in the first race.

Robinson improved to 18th, place this time second in his category, when the 40-strong field returned to the track later the same day.

A fastest lap of 1.20.128 completed an encouraging shakedown.

"Matt hadn't even seen the kart before arriving at Donington, so we're happy," said dad Graham afterwards.
