Northwich Manchester Villa 1 Barnton 4

NEW boy Liam Crellin-Myers scored with his first touch as Barnton progressed to the Reusch Division One Cup quarter finals with a win against Northwich Manchester Villa on Friday.

Crellin-Myers’ debut goal was added to by Colin Quirk, Ryan Malone and goal for Kevin Pollard, before Villa grabbed a late consolation in a game played at Cheadle Town.

It sets up a last-eight visit for Leon Knight’s side to either Holker Old Boys or Ashton Town.

“I’ve been impressed with everything so far, the performances have been class every week,” said Crellin-Myers, who recently arrived from Cheshire League outfit Knutsford.

“Knighty and Andy (Burgess) have welcomed me, as well as the lads.

“Of course I was happy to get on and score, but we need to move on now and keep this run going in the league.”

The Villagers had the ball in the net through Kayde Coppin after eight minutes, only to see it chalked off for offside.

But goals either side of the break put the visitors into a 3-0 lead, with Pollard opening the scoring from Quirk’s corner.

Quirk then netted from the spot after Malone was brought down, with the latter adding a third soon after.

Crellin-Myers was introduced by Knight from the bench and within two minutes netted a debut goal, slotting home first time when one-on-one.

Barnton had chances to further their lead, but it was the hosts who hit back with a late consolation goal thanks to a spectacular 40-yard effort that beat keeper Alan Judge.
