ALISTAIR Stanway won Weaver Valley Cycling Club’s 50-mile time trial title on Saturday, completing a course around Cranage in 2:01.56.
Jim Dufty was next best in 2:03.41 in a contest incorporated into a Manchester and District Time Trial Association 50, followed by Craig Lee in 2:12.23 on his return from injury.
All three classified inside the top 30 overall, with time trial-newcomer Mark Nulty (Glossop Kinder Velo) finishing as fastest rider in 1:52.24 ahead of Chris Siepen (Seamons CC).
On Thursday Weaver Valley’s entry at Warrington Road Club’s 4up time trial was held up by a fall for Iain Young, who slipped from his bike.
The quartet, completed by Duffy, Stanway and Dave Fearon, reformed – after losing more than 90 seconds – to complete the course in a respectable 58:28.
They classified 17th overall in an contest that requires the four riders to constantly rotate who leads their group.
