WEAVER Valley Cycling Club riders took part in the opening round of the Dave Hinde Race series at Oulton Park, in Little Budworth, last Tuesday.
In the veterans’ category, newly-crowned British Masters National Road Race champion Alan Kemp missed a decisive break by three of his rivals.
They stayed clear to take the podium places between them.
Kemp crossed the line after a bunch sprint to the finish, classifying as runner-up in his age category.
Weaver Valley teammates Kevin Underhill, Gerard Lacey, Ewart Howkins, Andrew Poole, Iain Young and Colin Carthy battled for honours too over 10 laps of the motor racing circuit, finishing in the bunch.
The series, which includes a taster event for newcomers to road racing, resumes on Tuesday week, June 23.
